Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain today said that only one agreement under the Indian line of credit (LoC) has been cancelled, deviating from Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain's claim that 10 agreements with India were scrapped.
Speaking to reporters at the foreign ministry, Touhid said the cancelled deal involved the purchase of tugboats from India, a decision taken with the consent of both sides.
He, however, declined to comment on Asif Mahmud's social media post, which had listed agreements with India.
Touhid added that while some agreements with India are under review, such reviews are routine under any government. He further noted that several agreements mentioned in social media discussions "do not even exist."
On Sunday, LGRD and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud had posted a list of agreements with India, claiming 10 of them have been cancelled and others were being reconsidered.
