Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin yesterday said the misuse of artificial intelligence has become a global concern and called for a 24-hour system to combat misinformation during the upcoming national election.

The CEC made the remarks at a seminar titled "Integration of AI in Upcoming National Parliament Election to Counter Misinformation and Disinformation" at Dhaka's Agargaon.

The Election Commission will form an integrated cell to prevent the misuse of artificial intelligence during the upcoming national elections, he added.

He also pointed out the challenge of combating misinformation originating from remote or hard-to-reach areas such as the hill tracts or offshore islands.

"I don't want just policy guidelines. We need concrete plans -- who will work, how many people will be needed, and how we will get information from remote areas," he told the participants.
