Shabnam Barsha and her boyfriend Mahir Rahman were brought to a Dhaka court today in connection with the case filed over the death of Jagannath University (JnU) student and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Jobayed Hossen.
"Barsha and Mahir were escorted to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's (CMM) Court around 2:40pm and kept inside the court lockup," Md Jahidul Islam, in-charge of the lockup, told The Daily Star.
Meanwhile, a group of JnU students are staging demonstrations on the court premises, demanding punishment for those responsible.
Earlier in the day, the victim's brother Enayet Hossain Saikat filed a murder case with Bangshal Police Station, accusing Barsha, Mahir, and Fardin Ahmed Aylan.
Four to five unidentified persons were also made accused in the case.
Jobayed, a student of the 2019–20 academic session in statistics department at JnU, was killed inside a building in Old Dhaka's Armanitola area around 4:45pm on Sunday. He was a convening committee member of the JnU unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
According to police, Jobayed had been tutoring Barsha for the past year at a house on Nur Box Lane in Armanitola, where he was murdered.
