Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today arrested 131 leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliate organisations from flash processions in various parts of Dhaka.

Md Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (DC) of DMP's media and public relations wing, confirmed the arrests, citing DMP's Crime Command and Control Division.

According to a DMP press statement, the highest number of arrests, 40, was made by the Motijheel police, followed by 24 by Gulshan police, and 22 by the Wari Division Detective Branch (DB).

Other arrests included eight by Mohammadpur police; six each by Paltan, Dhanmondi, New Market, and Uttara East police; four by Khilkhet police; three each by Cantonment and Shahbagh police; two by Uttara West police; and one by Hatirjheel police.

DC Talebur confirmed that all 131 individuals were arrested while participating in the flash processions.
