The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has dismissed recent claims circulating on social media and in some news outlets suggesting that Qatar has suspended the issuance of visas for Bangladeshi workers, labeling them as "baseless."

In a press release issued today (21 October), the ministry said such rumours are "deliberate attempts by vested quarters to mislead the public and create confusion."

It urged citizens not to be swayed by misinformation.

The ministry clarified that Qatar's labour market remains open to Bangladeshi workers. Between September 2024 and September 2025, a total of 111,662 workers were sent from Bangladesh to Qatar.

At present, 425,681 Bangladeshi workers are employed in the Gulf nation.

The release also addressed misleading claims about so‑called "free visas" for Qatar.

The ministry stressed that no such visa category exists and warned people to remain alert against fraudulent campaigns.

"Spreading false information about overseas employment is a malicious attempt to create panic," the ministry said.

It also urged the public to rely only on official sources for updates on foreign labour markets.
