Alokito Teacher, NSU sign MoU to enhance teacher education in Bangladesh
Alokito Teachers Ltd. and North South University (NSU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly revolutionise teacher education and professional development in Bangladesh.
The partnership aims to combine NSU's academic excellence with Alokito Teachers' evidence-based, innovative approach, creating a new generation of skilled, compassionate, and future-ready educators.
Under the agreement, NSU will provide academic validation, faculty involvement, and research support, while Alokito Teachers will lead curriculum design, programme delivery, and teacher placement nationwide. Graduates will receive the prestigious "NSU–Alokito Certified" credential, integrating academic rigour with real-world classroom expertise.
The signing ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU and Honorary Chair of the Steering Committee – Center for Social Impact and Sustainability (CSIS); Dr. Sharif Nurul Ahkam, Director of CSIS; Dr. Halimur Rashid Khan, Professor and Director of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC); Cynthia McKinney, Director of the Office of External Affairs, NSU; Azwa Nayeem, Managing Director, Alokito Teachers; and Brig. Gen. Abu Nayeem Md. Shahidullah (Retd), Director of Alokito Teachers, along with other officials from both organisations.
Speaking on the partnership, Azwa Nayeem, Managing Director of Alokito Teachers, said,

The partnership will also establish the NSU–Alokito Centre for Teacher Excellence, a dedicated hub for research, policy advocacy, and continuous professional learning. The centre will advance evidence-based teaching practices and contribute to shaping national education policy.
Since its founding, Alokito Teachers has supported over 19,000 teachers across 750 schools in Bangladesh through professional development and teacher support initiatives. The organisation continues to empower educators to create inclusive, engaging, and student-centred classrooms.
